Navigating within SharePoint Online
Navigating in SharePoint Online is done through a system of menus. Megamenu, which is available from all areas of SharePoint online, and side navigation which is area specific.
Navigating the Megamenu
The megamenu replaces the old top link bar navigation used in old SharePoint which had links such as corporate that when hovered over revealed individual team pages.
It is also separated into English and Welsh sections. For the purpose of this guide we will be using the English menu.
1. Hover your mouse over the English in the top link bar
2. This should reveal the megamenu. Simply click any of the links display to navigate to any area of SharePoint such as “Sector Networks”. Any area that is yet to be migrated from old SharePoint to SharePoint online, the link will return you to the old SharePoint site where it is located.
Navigating the side navigation (Area Specific)
The side navigation is area specific and display the most common links. For this guide we are using the “Sector Network” area.
1. Libraries and individual Sector Network are now grouped. To expand the group Click on the down arrow and NOT the text.
2. You can now select any of the revealed areas.
Any area (Page/List/Library) not revealed can also be found be selecting “All Site Content” (Sometimes just called site content). Here reveals a page displaying all content on that particular area.
